Mixed overnight golf and spa breaks at The Dartmouth Hotel, South Devon

Dartmouth Hotel Named in the UK’s Top 100 Golf Resorts

The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa, a welcoming hotel retreat with an 18-hole championship golf course and a nine-hole club course near the scenic village of Blackawton, Devon, has this week been named among the top 100 resorts in the UK to enjoy a golf break.

A panel of experts from the UK’s leading golfing magazine, Today’s Golfer, travelled the length and breadth of the country, sampling the very best of the UK’s golf resorts to compile the guide. Defined as ’a golf course with accommodation on the same site’, the golf resorts were scored on several criteria including the quality of the course, accommodation, non-golf amenities and setting, with the resulting resorts being ranked in order from one to a hundred.

The Golf World Top 100: Best Golf Courses guides are seen as one of the most authoritative measurements for golfing amenity standards, overseen by respected journalist and editor Chris Bertram and with input from industry professionals with years of experience in the game. Each course is visited, fully inspected and subject to a detailed marking scheme that ensures a level playing field for courses.

The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa, alongside courses of similar impeccable standards, was ranked number 67 in the list and praised for its ‘two Jeremy Pern-designed courses in peaceful surroundings’ offering ‘good parkland golf’ as well as a ‘comprehensive spa’ and ‘neat hotel’.

One of the Hotel’s courses was also tipped as ‘an England Top 200 contender’, alluding to the fact that it could receive further recognition in upcoming and highly competitive golf course rankings from the publication.
