One of the most highly regarded PGA golf pros in the southwest of England, Stuart Barrett, has joined The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf & Spa this month to lead its expanding coaching team.
This comes on the back of an announcement by the golf resort at the end of last year, outlining the development of a new golf practice range on six acres of land adjacent to the fifth and sixth holes on the Dartmouth Course. This range is planned to open in June 2024.
Devon born Stuart is already well known by the Dartmouth Golf Club members, as he previously worked at the resort for seven years and is still the current course record holder. During this time, he became a PGA Golf Professional on the West Region PGA circuit, and frequently represented his county in tournaments.
12 years at Devon’s Wrangaton Golf Club followed in the role of head professional and director of golf, before a move to Bovey Tracey Golf Club. He now joins The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf & Spa to provide expert golf tuition to members and non-members two days per week, and to develop both the resorts coaching offering and his own business.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to not only work at the Dartmouth Golf Club once again, but to also be a part of developing the resort’s training and coaching services.” said Stuart Barrett.
“The addition of a new practice range to the excellent courses later this year will bring new opportunities for golfers of all abilities to perfect their game; something my coaching will support. I work with a golfer to understand their individual needs; their strengths, weaknesses, and ambitions, and then create a bespoke coaching plan to help. I totally believe anyone, regardless of age or athletic ability can learn to play golf. And I am here to help them achieve this and enjoy playing the game as much as I do.”
The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa general manager Ian Davies said of the appointment: “Stuart is one of the most highly regarded Golf Pros in the region. His experience, knowledge, and passion for teaching the game make him stand out. And we are delighted to welcome him back to the Club at such an important time, as we invest in creating a wider range of facilities for our golfers. “
The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa offers an 18-hole championship course for experienced golfers to enjoy, and a smaller nine-hole course which is maintained to the same exacting standards yet is more straight forward to navigate for less experienced players, beginners, and juniors. The Hotel has 35 elegantly furnished rooms and six self-catering cottages on site, which can sleep up to six people and come with full access to the resort facilities. For business events, the Hotel has two spacious function suites. The Dartmouth Suite offers capacity for up to 150 guests, whilst the Kingsbridge Suite can accommodate up to 80 guests. Both suites offer a private sun terrace with outdoor seating which is perfect for refreshment breaks or cocktail receptions. The resort also offers a full spa, health club, bar, bistro, and free car parking.
